Events and tickets
If your site lists events, they appear under Content, on the Events tab, and on your site’s
calendar at /events/. (If you don’t see an Events tab, events are turned off; an admin can turn
them on under Settings, Events.)
Adding an event
Section titled “Adding an event”- Click Content, then Events, then New Event.
- Give it a Title in the right-hand panel.
- Set Starts and Ends. Tick All-day event if it has no set times.
- Pick the Venue. If it is a new place, add it right there: type the name and fill in the address.
- Describe the event on the page itself, as with any page.
- Add a Featured image: it is used on the calendar and in event lists.
- Click Publish.
The event appears on the calendar straight away, and visitors can add it to their own calendars.
Events that repeat
Section titled “Events that repeat”For a weekly class or a monthly meeting, use Repeats in the event’s settings. Choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly, then when it Ends: On a date, After a number of times, or Never (the calendar then shows two years ahead). Skip dates leaves out particular days (a holiday, say), and Extra dates adds one-off dates. Each date gets its own page on the site.
Venues
Section titled “Venues”Venues are kept once and reused. Find them under Content, Venues to correct an address or phone number; every event at that venue updates.
Selling tickets or taking sign-ups
Section titled “Selling tickets or taking sign-ups”An event takes bookings once it has at least one ticket type. In the event’s settings, under Tickets:
- Add a ticket type, for example “Adult” or “Free entry”, with its price (0 for free).
- Optionally set How many are available, and when it is On sale from and until.
- Set the event’s overall capacity if there is one, and whether to offer a Waitlist when sold out.
- Publish the event. The booking form appears on its page.
Paid tickets need card payments set up for your site; ask your admin. Free tickets work without.
Who is coming
Section titled “Who is coming”Click Tickets in the top bar to see every event taking bookings, with tickets sold and takings. Click an event to see its Orders:
- Checked in: tick people off at the door. Print gives you a paper list.
- Resend confirmation: if someone lost their email.
- Cancel order or Refund (refunds are made by admins).
- Export CSV: the list as a spreadsheet.
- Waitlist: the people waiting, and Notify to tell them tickets are free.
- Emails: change the confirmation and reminder emails for this event.
